AirWatch offers a range of exciting projects throughout the year, for primary and secondary students.
WeatherWatch
Motivate your students to learn about weather by joining WeatherWatch! This project, delivered in partnership with Channel Seven Perth, has your class monitoring the weather and sending in data for Jeff Newman’s nightly weather report. Though places are limited, and the 2009 roster full, you might like to begin monitoring your school’s weather conditions anyhow – collecting data actively involves your students in weather studies and provides a real-world context for conducting basic data analysis. Get more details here.
Air Quality Monitoring
AirWatch has a number of kits available for monitoring the air quality at your school. Secondary schools can monitor the air for nitrogen dioxide (NO2), a large component of car exhaust (find out more here). Primary schools’ monitoring focuses on particulates, a product of incomplete combustion of fuel from cars and wood heaters (find out more here). The kits are available for loan, FREE of charge.
